Description

C.officianalis is a type of red seaweed that is usually a dark pink in colour.  It is formed of small calcareous branches, that give it a rigid structure, growing in tufts from a disc-like holdfast.  When found dead the branches will appear white as only the calcareous structure remains.  Found at the edges of small pools usually lower down on the beach.
