BlooMarineEast Mersea

Parking at East Mersea is very limited, with space for only 5 or 6 cars at the very end of the road.  If you manage to park here then it is only a short walk down to the seawall from which you will get spectacular views over the saltmarsh looking across the Colne estuary towards Brightlingsea.  Turning right and walking along the path that tops the seawall will take you along to a point that you can gain access to the usually quiet beach.  Visitors then have the choice of left along the sandy spit, with its large windrows of seashells, or right along the beach towards Cudmore Grove.

Cudmore Grove is a useful start point for the more energetic walker and for families.  Here you will find a large pay and display car park with toilets and an information centre.  The car park leads out onto a large open field area perfect for ball games, kite flying and picnics.  At the bottom of the field is the sea wall and access to the beach.  This part of the sea wall has had a tarmac path added in recent years and so provides some access along the coast for wheelchair users and for those with young children in pushchairs.
