Remotely Operated Vehicles (R.O.V.s)

R.O.V.s are a type of underwater robot that instead of being programmed to carry out tasks are controlled via a cable or tether by a controller or pilot who remains at the surface and flies the R.O.V. using onboard cameras and other sensors to "see".

There are many commercially available R.O.V.s ranging from the size of a shoebox to the size of a family car.

As part of BlooMarine's quest to bring the wonderful creatures of the Essex coast to you via the web we have decided to use our new boat as a platform to operate our own R.O.V. from.

During our research into commercially available R.O.V.s we discovered that there is a large community of enthusiastic amateur R.O.V. pilots that have designed and built their own R.O.V.s.

This seemed to us to be quite an exciting idea and so many scribbles later we had our first R.O.V. design.
