On Portraiture

My whimsical portraiture finds the essential spark within each subject, and I never know what it will be. Each face suggests a different journey.  I've painted family members, children, friends, a woman who takes care of cats, and other artists.  I sketch people in the act of thinking, recounting,  hoping.  If, in these portraits, people seem to be inhabiting another dimension, I feel. well, don't we all? My aim is to catch subjects telling me a story that defines them, or catches their hopes or dreams,  their shining moments.
